Shiloh’s Story

From the Auction Cycle to a Lasting Legacy

Every horse has a story.

Shiloh’s journey could easily have ended at the auction.

Registered as Fancy Easter Sunrise, Shiloh originally entered the auction cycle through a broodmare herd reduction. She was sold more than once, eventually standing near the end of another sale with only two bidders remaining—the Iron D and a kill buyer.

We brought her home.

Behind the uncertainty was an exceptional foundation-bred mare. Shiloh is 95% foundation Quarter Horse, with a pedigree filled with the old bloodlines that built the breed. She possesses the substance, disposition, maternal ability, and enduring qualities we value in an Iron D broodmare.

Shiloh was later bred to Eight Mile, a son of Metallic Cat with more than $102,000 in lifetime earnings. On March 24, 2024, she delivered a beautiful sorrel colt:

Cats Sunrise Legacy

Legacy represents exactly what we are building—proven performance genetics joined with the bone, mind, durability, and maternal strength of a foundation mare.

Shiloh was not simply rescued from an auction. She was given the opportunity to show what she could contribute. Today, she is an important part of the Iron D breeding program and proof that a horse’s value cannot always be measured by where you find her.

Where Foundation Meets Performance.

What We’re Building

Iron D Quarter Horses is a small, developing breeding program built around proven foundation, modern performance genetics, sound minds, and useful horses.

We are not interested in producing numbers. We are building carefully—one cross, one horse, and one earned reputation at a time.
